THURSDAY SHORT TAKES

October 21, 2010

After spending 20 years getting What Dreams May Come to the screen, I’m very curious to see Clint Eastwood’s take on the afterlife in Hereafter. I loved Gran Torino because it was, for me, Eastwood’s most emotionally accessible movie ever so it will be very interesting to see how he handles the emotions in a film about the ineffable.

I can’t believe that we haven’t yet seen Social Network yet. Lauren and I hope to rectify that this weekend, which is supposed to be rainy one here in Oregon, perfect for movie going. The screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin, is one of the best character/dialogue writers on the planet so it will be intriguing to see how the director David Fincher handles the film.

My stepson Carter and I are loving The Event every week on television. It’s what we hoped Flash Forward was going to be last year.

And I still think The Good Wife is the best television drama since The Sopranos.
